Firestorm was created to address the need of an underdeveloped market that had no clear direction. The imminent loss of signal processing by the LEOSAR satellite system in February 2009 was a point of great concern for us. We began to develop alternate solutions to meet the needs of the General Aviation population who would no longer be heard if they were still using the 121.5 MHz ELT (Emergency Locator Beacons). From humble beginnings as active professional volunteer Search and Rescue Technicians with over 65 years of actual experience, we were in the unique position of identifying the most pressing needs of the search and rescue process.

Since its incorporation in 2008, Firestorm has developed an unprecedented reputation as a leader in the SAR industry. We have become a leading provider of Radio Direction products, technologies, and data for government agencies and professional markets in the search and rescue field.
